SG PETANI PUNYA CERITA LAGI...

Sambung lagi pasal Sg Petani... Kali nie nak cerita pasal aktiviti-aktiviti sampingan yang we all buat sepanjang we all kat Sg Petani, di luar waktu melawat hospital...

1. Sampai Sg Petani tu dah kira tgh pagi, pukul 2am dah. Checked-in hotel pun dah pukul 2.30am tapi mata aku nie masih boleh dikira terbeliak jugak la yer... Mahu tak terbeliak, kat area hotel (kitaorg stay mlm tu kat Casa Lagenda Hotel, hotel 3 stars jer, tak berbaloi checke-in kol 2.30am nak carik hotel mahal-mahal you all..., kol 12pm dah nak checked-out dah) tu ada Ariani, Casa Moda (Jakel), Hajaba, Al-Ikhsan, Radik Fried Chicked, Old Town Kopitiam, banyak sungguh kedai-kedai yang bisa menggugat hati ini...

2. Ada shopping mall & hypermarket la... Ada Village Mall, sebelah dia ada Tesco... Tak la jauh benar, semua tu area dlm 2km from hospital jer...

3. Jumaat tu (11th March 2011) seblm checked-out dr hotel (mintak checked-out lambat sikit utk bilik MIL aku...), aku baru sedar yg aku tak bawak jeans langsung... ye la, masa datang tu dah malam, aku pakai seluar yang buat dok umah jer... weiii... seluar dok umah pun beli kat Singapore tau, $25, convert duit kita adalah dlm RM60... Tak caya tanya biras aku, dia kata seluar tu cun siot!!! Jadi, aku telah berjaya memujuk suami tercinta ajak gie beli jeans satu. Nasib baik bawak seluar tights (swimming) kaler hitam... Apa la motif aku bawak seluar swimming nie, ingatkan nak dok hotel Swiss Garden kot!! We all pun buat la visit ke Village Mall... Fuh... Ada Starbuck, ada Secret Recipe, Pizza Hut, Chicken Rice Shop... Giller tengah-tengah bulan nak hentam Levi’s?? Jadi aku gagahkan diri gie kedai2 baju yang nama dia pun aku tak ingat... Rembat la satu jeans, nasib baik muat2, tak yah nak fikir-fikir pasal nak alter pun... Tapi aku suka jeans tu, muat-muat la sebab kan ker kaki aku nie jenis-jenis yang betis kecik, peha lak ... (tak yah la aku habiskan ayat tu ye...) So far yang aku comfortable, Jeep ...

4. Pemergian aku ke Village Mall tu ternyata tak sia-sia... Bila sampai sana, aku tengok dekat atrium tu penuh dgn banner ABPBH and masa tu Along (Raja Lawak, husband Zila AF4) tu tgh melayan orang-orang Sg Petani... And yang paling buat aku happy tu... Faizal Tahir ada!!! Jadi bermulalah sessi pujuk-memujuk sang suami untuk membawa aku berjumpa dengan pujaan hati... hahaha..

5. Yup, Sabtunya lepas visiting hour kat hospital, aku & Azimin (siap bawak Anggun & Alam) memeriahkan diri kat Village Mall... Parking jangan cerita la yer, memang penuh. Kitaorg parking pun jauh kat deret kedai2 seberang jalan. Mana-mana & apa-apa konsert pun, Faizal Tahir punya turn memang tang closing. So, we all pun makan la dulu kat Chicken Rice Shop. Happynya Alam sebab tu memang fav restaurant dia. Lepas makan, siap aku carik tempat kosong, jangan berangan la nak dok dekat depan stage yer, sampai pun masa tu Alyah tgh nanyi.. Azimin siap bawak Alam pergi main game lagi.. Yup, kitaorg tunggu sampai habis, sampai Faizal Tahir... Dia mmg closing performance dan masa tu, Village Mall punya la bergema dek sokongan supporters dia. Aku paling tak leh tahan bila tengok ada pakcik seorg nie punya la layan nanyi lagi Hanyut...
6. Ahad (13th march) we all sefamily (kecuali BIL aku punya wife & FIL aku) bertolak gie Pendang. Husband adik ipar aku (yg sebelah umah tu) punya pakcik ada buat kenduri kawin anak dia. Kitaorg pun tak segan-segan la nak pegi tolong makan w/pun semua tak bawak baju kurung... Hehehe... Ye la, masa tu rasanya keadaan BIL aku dah ok sikit dah, dah boleh makan tu kira dah ok la kan... Pendek kata, my 1st visit to Sg Petani tu tak mengecewakan. Sama macam Faizal Tahir, dia pun kata tu 1st visit dia to Sg Petani...

Before aku lupa, pagi Ahad tu before heading to Pendang, Azimin was looking for kedai tayar, nak check tayar katanya. Pusing punya pusing (banyak kali pusing sbb Garmin gagal menjalankan tugasnya dengan baik... fuh, dah la kau mahal wahai Garmin!!!), terjumpa Kolej Insaniah & Kolej Murni. Aku tahu Koleh Murni ada kat area Sg Petani sebab berlambak-lambak practical nursing student dia kat Hospital Sg Petani tu ha...

Nampak jer Kolej Insaniah tu, Azimin terus jerit.. “you... Kolej Insaniah la.. Kat sini rupanya... Saper ada kat sini ye?”

Oleh kerana memori aku lebih kuat dari Azimin, sebab tu la aku boleh jawab terus tanpa berfikir panjang.. “Akif & Fuad...” Akif & Fuad tu member-member kitaorang masa di Limkokwing, back in years 2002. Both of them orang fine art... Tapi Akif nie jenis smart la, Fuad nie jenis sempoi. Akif pernah jaga Limkokwing London, balik dr sana dia terus resign & now he is the CEO of Kolej Insaniah, and develop Faculty of Media Arts kat sana. Dia memang bawak orang-orang dia dari Limkokwing. Akif nie, pernah beli kereta Alfa Romeo cash dengan duit jual art work dia... Hehehe... saper kata jadi pelukis tak leh hidup? Kalau satu art work jual rm100,000.00, apa yang tak leh hidup? Fuad nie mmg more to abstract, dia pernah buat cover album M Nassir...

BANGI, 23 March. 2011- UKM today launched the first solar powered recycling centre in the country using photovoltaic solar panels (PV) and equipped with a 32 inch LCD screen and a DVD player.

The building was designed by a UKM researcher and architect Dr Azimin Samsul Tazilan, a Research Fellow at the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) and Institute of Environment and Development (LESTARI) UKM with the collaboration of Alam Flora.

It is an on campus centre for storing and segregating solid wastes for recycling purposes .

At its launch today, Alam Flora CEO Haji Mohd Zain bin Haji Hassan said the centre was built using green technology and micro architecture procedures. It is the first recycling centre fully powered by solar energy in the country.

Energy to maintain the centre is derived fully from solar panels that can generate electrical energy of 200 watts. It can power a ceiling fan, three light bulbs, a 32 inch LCD screen and DVD player.

Its total cost of about RM60,000 is considered low compared to other structures that use solar energy. It was built using both natural and recycled materials.

Mohd Zain said the building was designed such that it will absorb natural lights into its interior and is also well ventilated. The building also incorporates rain harvesting system used to cool its surrounding and for cleaning as well as to water plants.

The building characteristics conforms with Green Building Index (GBI), a set of guidelines for sustainable development.

Mohd Zain commended UKM for the collaboration with Alam Flora saying that the university will become the reference point for other universities wishing to have a sustainable campus.

Deputy Vice chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Hassan Basri said that UKM aims to be a zero waste campus within 10 years.

With that goal in mind, Prof Hassan said UKM has set up a Zero Waste Initiative Committee to oversee that aspiration becoming a reality.

“I am confident that UKM will achieve our target to recycle 22% of its solid waste by the end of the year,”

The recycling centre is only one of the many initiatives being taken to make the campus environmentally friendly. Various collaboration initiatives were forged to conduct research on how waste can be recycled, he said.

Among them were various action researches being conducted between UKM and Alam Flora including research on biogas, composting food and garden waste.

Prof Hassan hoped UKM will become the pioneer in solid waste research management among institutions of higher learning in Malaysia and the region.

Senior officials from the National Solid Waste Management Department, the Kajang Municipal Council, Putrajaya Corporation, Alam Flora and UKM.

Dugaan Buat Kita

Lama jugak rasanya tak update kat sini. Agak busy dengan schedule yang agak tight, esp preparation for school holidays and school holidays...

As usual, sebelum school holidays mestilah ada exam, kan? So, Anggun was preparing for her exam and secara tak langsung, sayalah cikgu di rumah... Even it just standard 2 subjects, mencabar iman juga la kiranya...

9th March 2011 early in the morning, around 4am, we got to know that my BIL accident. Mulanya agak confused and tak la sangka dia parah sebab cerita yang berangkai-rangkai tu macam blur jugak. Rupanya, my BIL tu dilanggar kereta sendiri... Macam mana? Confesed tak?

Macam nie ceritanya...

My BIL tu baru beli pick-up truck (Mazda, lebih kurang mcm Toyota Hilux jugak la sizenya), second hand lepas dia tolak Myvi lama dia. Myvi baru dia still pakai lagi. Malam tu dia nak main badminton dekat hall (btw, his location is in Felda Kuala Ketil, near Sg Petani and his wife tak duduk sekali since wife dia still mengajar kat Sg Bayour, Perak). So, lepas parking, bila dah dalam hall, suddenly member-member dia kata kereta dia bergerak. Kebetulan, tempat dia parking tu agak curam. My BIL and another 4 of his friends berkejar lari nak tahan kereta tu. Sampai satu tahap, semua dah tak tahan dah and pakat nak lepas and lari. Entah macam mana, my BIL terjatuh and dia digelek dek keretanya sendiri on 8th March 2011...

Kawan-kawan dia bawak my BIL to nearby clinic and clinic hantar dia to Hospital Sg Petani. We all bertolak to Sg Petani on 10th March, lepas event Azimin selesai kat UKM... Yelah, kan ke lelaki kesayangan hamba tu was one of the spotlight for Permata Pintar launching... Acara penyerahan SOLAR VEST nya to Datin Paduka Rosmah Mansor (itulah nama yang tulis kat vest tu ya)..

We departed ENSTEK after Maghrib and arrived Sg Petani Hospital around 1.30am. Azimin sempat naik and visit his brother, then lepas tu, we all carik hotel yang dekat-dekat area hospital tu. We checked in kat Casa Lagenda, dekat Lagenda Heights... Kebetulan, my in-laws pun checked-in kat situ. Sebab emergency, bedal jer la... Kalau nama nak stay for pleasure, idak la kot... Sebab the next day tu, FELDA dah sewakan 2 storeys homestay kat area situ gak untuk we all sefamily...

My BIL’s conditions parah sebenarnya. He is facing 3 phases of ‘parah’. 1- Paru-parunya internal bleeding... 2 – Kecederaan buah pinggang and 3 – Tulang rusuk & tulang kat tangan kiri & bahu patah... Kesia aku tengok condition dia. Amat kesian...

Dan as a person yang pernah bergaul-mesra dengan insan-insan hospital, aku tahu la serba sedikit on the medical terms kan? Panas jugak aku melihat keadaan & layanan yang amat ALA KADAR tu, padahal orang nie parah bukan main. Paling aku tak tahan, ada ke troli bahan buangan ubat, etc tu boleh selamba rock jer park kat sebelah katil BIL aku. Itu bahan buangan merbahaya, main letak-letak suka hati lak. Dah la masa tu waktu melawat. Ramai orang kat keliling and Alam & his cousins pun ada cuba-cuba main-main troli tu. Bahaya.” Tercengang doktor practical tu dengar suara merdu aku... Nasib la kau, kau yang mula bersuara... Terus dia capai troli tu and bawak pergi.. Nasib kau baik tau, kalau la jadi kat hospital tanah jajahan aku dulu, sah-sah aku call GM hospital terus..

Lagi satu yang amat buat aku rasa GERAM jerr tu... Dah sah-sah BIL aku tu pakai oksigen for breathing, mulut tu nak bukak pun tak boleh.. Kat menu slip tu dah tulis dah: SOFT FOOD... Nasi putih sejuk (masa dia letak nasi tu may be la panas, tapi journey dari G Floor sampai ke 4th Floor tu jauh la gak kan), lauk labu (correct me if im wrong, bukan labu tu angin ker?) and ikan goreng yang keras (sebab aku try kutil dengan tangan, jenuh jugak la)... Boleh bayangkan macam mana BIL aku yang nak bukak mulut pun payah tu makan tak? Bila wife dia ngadu kat aku, aku suruh FIL aku inform kat doctor. Ye la, kalau aku or Azimin yang pegi cakap, mahu riuh satu ward kan...

Dan you all tahu apa jawapan doktor? “Staff catering dah turun, kalau dia tak nak makan food nie, pak cik boleh beli kat luar,” ... mak oii... berhemahnya... Betul la kata orang, orang sakit masuk hospital, boleh jadi bertambah sakit... FELDA memang dari awal dah proposed to transfer BIL aku ke provate hospital tapi memandangkan my BIL dah start admitted kat situ and record & case dia tgh diaorg study, so we agree to stay there. Bila dia dah stable bolehlah transfer balik Taiping...

Aku and Azimin siap meredah Sg Petani carik Mc D nak belikan bubur untuk BIL aku. Dia memang lapar, yelah, a day before that suruh puasa sebab nak buat endoskopik (betul ke spelling aku nie?.. ala, yang masukkan kamera dalam perut tu).

UKM Presents Special Vest Using Solar Energy to Prime Minister

Wednesday, 16 February 2011 15:43

Its from HERE!!!

BANGI, 16 Feb. 2011 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia has presented Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with a special vest developed by its solar scientists that is an epitome of their approach to green technology and safety.

The university said in a statement that it was privileged to present the extra sighting vest, trademarked as “ecSIGHTING” vest to the prime minister.

The vest was presented by UKM’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hassan Shahabudin through the Minister of Higher Education Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin at the end of the National Innovation Council meeting in Putrajaya on Monday.

Among those present at the event were the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Dato’ Sri Peter Chin; Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili and Minister of Women, Families and Social Development Senator Dato’ Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof Dr Rahmah Mohamed, Director of SERI Prof Dr Kamaruzzaman Sopian and SERI’s Research Fellow, Dr Azimin SM Tazilan who developed the jacket were also present. Najib then tried on the vest.

UKM said the “extra” is for the additional feature of solar mosaic and “sighting” referred to the physical power of sight from the sun in generating colours for safety.

The vest is an application of UKM’s innovative solar energy technology, designed to solve the problem of conventional safety apparels such as jackets and vests used by police personnel or motorcyclists which currently have light reflectors that are visible only if the light beams fall on the reflector.

When there is insufficient light source such as on cloudy days, in shaded areas, or at night, the safety feature is almost zero.

“Our ecSIGHTING™ apparel gives an extra safety feature and other useful functions through the use of green and environment friendly technology. Embedded in the back of the vest is a solar panel with solar cells that directly convert energy from the sun into electrical energy through the process of photovoltaics.”

It said the electrical energy generated is stored in batteries kept in the pocket of the vest and is designed for 8 hours of continuous operation. The solar panel and the battery motherboard together make the innovative green technology product.

“By switching on the appropriate keys on the batteries, you can control the lights on the vest as well as the small torchlight. The market applications for ecSIGHTING™ apparel include enhancing safety on the roads and construction sites, as well as for use in areas with no electricity.”

The UKM statement said the green technology application used is mobile energy resource generation 1 where the research was done by the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) of UKM which was established in 2005.

With funding from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Research University Funding, scientists from SERI had developed state-of-the-art facilities in advanced solar cell fabrication and characterisation, solar thermal systems and zero energy architecture.

“We have also built a Green Technology Innovation Park which demonstrates a number of commercial scale solar energy systems for various applications in the agricultural, domestic and industrial sector.

“Presently, SERI has over 30 patents, 4 copyrights and 3 trademarks on solar related products. UKM has also established a start-up company for solar energy products,” the statement said.

SERI also studied the social impact of renewable energy system to ensure that their solar energy research is not only producing clean, environment friendly products, but is also creating employment and income for rural people.

“Currently we are promoting the use of solar drying systems for farmers in Trengganu and fisherman in Sabah. We have also helped develop a cottage industry for manufacturing photovoltaic panels in Terengganu.”

The statement also said the PV industry generated US$50 billion in global revenues in 2010 mostly in the application of grid connected systems and remote as well as rural electricification. Small scale innovative products such as street lighting, signages, recreational and safety products make up about 20 % of the revenue.

“We want to tap into this segment of the market by deepening research for improving the solar panel technology to produce greater wattage with miniaturization of the panel and reducing cost of production through quicker processing and whole value chain control,” it added.

The jacket was developed by SERI’s Research Fellow, Dr Azimin SM Tazilan.
