Dr. Azimin Tazilan, have used various elements associated with research in a series of critical observations of sustainable urbanism and street space. He received his Master of Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK in 1996. Since then he has experimented a new media in the arts and architecture with a unique conceptual style.
With the new knowledge and experiences that he has, he did not waive in his fight for advocating the national visual culture. He was one of the finalist of Bakat Muda Sezaman 2002 (Young Contemporaries 2002, National Art Gallery). He is also a designer and an inventor who has won numerous awards in the international arena. He graduated with a PhD in 2010 in the field of micro-architecture and sustainable urbanism and since that time the spirit to return color to the landscape of visual arts pushed him to deliver his passion for painting again.
The exhibition entitled ‘adaJALAN’ is his first solo exhibition highlighting the issues of streets, micro-architecture and nomadic objects which have existed more than 120 years in Malaysia. The presence of lines, the blurred boundaries, and the area has become the iconography of his visual arts. All the characters in this issue are translated in the form of mixed media landscape in 2-3 dimensional formats.
